Carrie Evans Sansom has spent nearly 11 years dedicated to serving her clients as a Medicare insurance agent, a path she initially never imagined for herself. After feeling unfulfilled in a desk job, Carrie was introduced to the idea of working in Medicare by a friend. Though she initially dismissed the suggestion, a few weeks of reflection led her to reconsider, and she found herself drawn to a career that had little to do with her previous experience but felt like the perfect fit.
The most rewarding aspect of Carrie’s career has been the relationships she’s built with her clients. She has cherished the unpredictability of each day, never knowing who might reach out for help with their Medicare needs. What often begins as a simple inquiry frequently evolves into deeper connections, as clients share their lives with her.
Carrie’s expertise has had a profound impact on many lives. One memorable success story involved a woman who was mistakenly told by Social Security that she couldn’t receive Medicare because she didn’t have enough credits. Carrie discovered that the woman was actually eligible based on her husband’s credits, and after much convincing, she was able to guide her through the process. Another client, a woman in her late 70s, had no idea she qualified for full Medicaid coverage. Carrie’s assistance not only provided her with much-needed healthcare but also led to a heartfelt relationship. Carrie was deeply touched when this client’s daughter called to let her know that her mother wanted to say goodbye as she neared the end of her life.
Reflecting on her career, Carrie believes that her clients have had as much of an impact on her as she has had on them. She feels blessed to have been a part of their lives, whether in small ways or through significant moments of support and guidance.
Carrie has accepted a new position helping federal employees plan for their retirement, though she is also focused on her new role as a wife, having married in 2023. While she will continue to be available to her clients during the 2024 fall Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), she will refer them to the exceptional team at Senior Allies for any plan changes or enrollments.
Carrie is deeply grateful for the trust her clients have placed in her over the years and looks forward to seeing how her journey will continue to unfold.
